Not Very Ordered

The project is dedicated to the interaction between textile motifs, architectural patterns and the logic that connects them. Gergana  cites and updates key approaches related to the construction of structured visual repetitions that are often decorative in nature – for example, pattern compositions, wallpapers, architectural and pictorial friezes.

Volume

VOLUME is a project about painting as a space rather than painting as part of the space. It is a joint creative product of artists Kaliya Kalacheva and Gergana Tabakova who rethink the concepts of the avant-garde from the early 20th century about the relationship between architecture and geometric abstraction.

Painterly objects and sculptures

Focusing on the material of painting in general and to some point questioning the surface tradition of painting, Gergana started her last series of works that expand the boundaries and capabilities of painting as a visual language across form and partly materiality. The topic of transforming painterly impressions into three-dimensional space has become central to Gergana’s practice.

Seas and swamps

The Seas and Swamps series focus on the dynamics of both the surface and depth of different areas of water.

The two bodies of water depicted in the painting series mark the boundaries of the field in which human experiences take place. This space is reflected in the dynamic and fluid compositions that form for the viewer planes existing in a state of flux.
